Watched Randy Weston deliver an atstanding performance in the Firkin Crane theatre during the Jazz festival. The man was able to create an incredible ambience the presence of his music was spellbinding. He highlighted that the greats including Louis Armstron only had to play a few notes to make there majic felt. He then lead the audience on a musical journey back in time to the time of our ancestors playing tunes inspired by the indigenous people from Morocco to Africa. The audience was lead into another world as he stirred inus the feeling that we were part of some ancient ritual. Jazz he explains like all music comes from something that existed before Randy managed to expose the spiritual element of music and placed the audience in the landscape of our distant ancestors. In scilence the performance ended and the audience smiling from ear to ear left the silent auditorium. What a performance!
